SANDAKAN: The Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) has buried the hatchet with Datuk Musa Aman, further boosting Barisan Nasional’s chances of retaining the Batu Sapi parliamentary seat with a big majority.
LDP president Datuk V.K. Liew softened the party’s stand of non-cooperation with Musa when it feted the Chief Minister as its guest-of- honour at a campaign dinner for Datin Linda Tsen Thau Lin.
“Action speaks louder than words,” Liew told reporters after Musa left the event.
LDP members gave him a rousing welcome when he arrived.
On Sept 1, the LDP through its deputy Datuk Chin Su Phin had made it clear that the party could no longer cooperate with the Chief Minister.
This sparked a row that saw LDP vice-president Datuk Peter Pang, a deputy chief minister, leaving the party. He remained a Barisan-friendly independent.
“We never said we had no confidence in the Chief Minister, please correct that. Our actions show that we have given our full support toMusa,” Liew said.
Yesterday, Musa stressed that there was no problem among Barisan component parties here.
“In this by-election, we have shown that we can work together as a team to ensure victory for our candidate,” he said in welcoming Liew’s statement.
