JOHANNESBURG (AP) — The lineup for this week's World Cup quarterfinals will be completed Tuesday when Spain meets Iberian neighbor Portugal and Japan takes on Paraguay.
European champion Spain has recovered from an early stumble against Switzerland but now comes up against Portugal and Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo in Cape Town. Ronaldo has not shown his best form at the tournament but Portugal still progressed to the second round after an avalanche of goals.
Neither Japan nor Paraguay have ever reached the quarterfinals.
Five-time world champion Brazil beat South American rival Chile 3-0 Monday to make the quarterfinals for a fifth straight tournament. The Netherlands beat Slovakia to join Uruguay, Ghana, Germany and Argentina in the last eight.
