World Cup 2010 Final: England 1, Slovenia 0

England is through to the round of 16. Jermaine Defoe scored in the 23rd minute and England eventually held on for a 1-0 win over Slovenia to reach the elimination round.

England finished second in Group C, while the U.S., which beat Algeria 1-0 in dramatic fashion on a goal by Landon Donovan in stoppage time, came in first.

The U.S. wins Group C, while England finishes second.

86th Minute
: Defoe is out. Slovenia plays a corner in to no avail.

84th Minute: Ball has been played on Slovenia's side all match.

80th Minute: Birsa gets booked.

79th Minute: Matavz is on and Kirm is off.

76th Minute: Slovenia needs to make something happen. And no it can't be a 40-yard free kick that goes high.

71st Minute: Birsa tries once again on a free kick from 40 but it goes high and wide. Altidore is robbed for the U.S.

68th Minute: Slovenia finally gets a pair of chances, but Novakovic's shot is blocked and Birsa's attempt sails wide to the right of the goalpost.

65th Minute: Birsa gets off a weak left-footer, but James is easily able to block it.

64th Minute: Handanovic snatches a corner kick. If only he could play offense as well.

62nd Minute: The first substitution for either side comes in the form of Dedic going on and Ljubijankic coming off.
